Sludge!

A new tax revenue stream has moved to our beloved City of Anachronism, locating at the edge of town where the unique ethnic food restaurant, Something Wicked, had been.

The company is Montgomery Septic, and their Anachronism facility is their Number Seven Storage Tank. I spoke with Montgomery Septic's Regional Manager, Strothers Poo.

"We're very happy to have found a suitable location for our trillion gallon storage facility. All it took was a little 'personal negotiation' with your Mayor to get the necessary permits. A short-term expense for a long-term benefit."

I followed up, "For a new tank, it looks kinda old."

"Never said it was a new tank, just a new location. After all of the whining, law suits, and physical threats from its previous location, moving here is a welcome relief. Don't worry, we had the tank's crack welded so it's as good as new. And we showed how we are good neighbors by giving the welding job to the Anachronism Junior College's "Welding 101" class for its mid-term project."

"Do most septic companies store what they remove from customers' tanks?"

"I don't know about others. Our trucks used to dump their 'cargo' down the storm drains of the street behind the customer's. Some namby-pamby Green Earth terrorist complained, so we had to build these large tanks. The better our business, the more and larger the tanks. And business has been good."

"I thought that most of the City was on a sewer system?"

"Some buildings never made the change, and are still on septic. One example is downtown's Gov'mnt Building. You wouldn't believe the amount of crap that comes out of there."

"Thank you for your time. I've got one more question, though. Do you get many comments about your name and the business you're in?"

"No. I'm not sure how "Strothers" is related to what I do."

If you wish to visit and get a guided tour of Montgomery's tank, just follow your nose.
