Robbed!

08/14/2026

We've heard of The Great Train Robbery, but The Great Train TRACK robbery? That's what happened recently to the above-ground portion of the Union-Anachronism Pacific's (UAP) run through downtown.

We (meaning I) spoke with the local station manager, Mike Whazisnaym. The missing rails ran right behind and above the station's office. "I came into work the other day and had the odd sense that something was different. Couldn't put my finger on it. Then came my 10 o'clock coffee break. The usual rattling of coffee cups as the Fentonville Express drove through didn't happen. That was strange, but maybe the train was running late. Happened again the next day. Then, my step-brother, Wyatt, stopped in for a visit and asked whether the Downtown Anachronism Skyway was relocated. That's when the pieces of the mystery all fell into place."

The new ground space created from having the tracks removed was beneficial in a few ways. The unique ethnic food restaurant, Something Wicked, finally was able to get a more-central location.

That move allowed a new business to come to town, Montgomery Septic, that located its Number 7 septic sludge storage tank where the restaurant had been. (For details, see the previous post.) Removing that rail also made it easier to get Mrs. Sheboygan's pet, Phil, ready for his ride home. (For details, see the post of July 4, 2025.)

Before I left the UAP Station Office, I wanted to clarify some of my notes. Not knowing if Mike's step-brother shared the same last name, I asked, "Your step-brother, Whazisnaym?"

"Wyatt."

"Wyatt what?"

"My brother's name."

"Whazisnaym."

"I just told you."

"What?"

"No, Wyatt."

"Wyatt who?"

"Whazisnaym."

"How should I know, he's YOUR brother."

Thirty minutes later, we (I) changed the subject. "Anyway, what happened next?"

"I called the head of company security, Naturally."

"Who did you call?"

"No, Who's on first."

Thirty minutes later, I (we) gave up and came back to the office to write this blog post.
