Art!

The City of Anachronism's Centre for the Arts and Regional Urban Theatre House have relocated. No longer in the J. Melvin Pretentious Building on Main Street near Happenen Place, they're now in the Doofenshmirtz Building on Main Street near Happenen Place.

Mr. Pretentious got a good offer to relocate his building. Doofenshmirtz Realty (a subsidiary of DEI) bought the lot and relocated one of their surplus buildings onto it. The arts folks moved out, waited a few days, and moved back in.

"This move really helps us financially," said Evita von Wong, Chief Artsifartsi of the Centre. I guess there's only so many times a person is interested in seeing Our Town. And we're not getting the same level of donations we used to before losing our 501(c)(3) non-profit status and the vicious rumors that surrounded it.

"Now we have a new way to get money. The top couple of floors have been converted into artist lofts. Not just lofts, but the more desirable dank lofts. Everyone who's heard of "starving artists" or seen Kirk Douglas play Van Gogh in "Lust for Life" thinks that financial and suffering are good for creativity, insanity, and posthumous fame.

"We serve this community of creatives by offering the type of housing they want at exorbitant prices. That helps them with the "starving" part of their dreams, and helps us keep the lights on."

And what of the co-inhabitant of the Pretentious Building, the "Now Read This" library and bookstore? Having missed the memo about the change in structures, they had to wait for the Pretentious Building to be nailed to the ground at its new location before they could escape the structure and get back to Anachronism where their space in the new building was waiting. Our little bookworms continue to enjoy their archaic form of learning and entertainment.
